Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Codebase Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Toolbase (the "Site"), a collection of free web-based tools available at toolbase.jp.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
The Site is supported by advertising revenue through Google AdSense. This means third-party cookies and tracking technologies may be used to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing history.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use three categories of cookies and tracking technologies:
(a) Essential — A CSRF session cookie is set automatically to protect form submissions from cross-site request forgery attacks. This cookie is strictly necessary for the Site to function securely and does not require your consent.
(b) Analytics — Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are used to track page views and understand how visitors use the Site. This helps us improve the tools we offer. These cookies are optional and are only activated after you provide consent via the cookie consent banner.
(c) Advertising — Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to display personalised advertisements based on your browsing history and interests across websites. These cookies are optional and are only activated after you provide consent. You may also see non-personalised ads if you decline advertising cookies.
Data We Collect
Server access logs: Our web server automatically records standard access log data, including your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, and the date and time of each request. These logs are retained for 90 days and then permanently deleted.
Bill-Splitting tool data: Data you enter into the Bill-Splitting tool (such as participant names and amounts) is stored on our servers to allow you to share and revisit the calculation. This data is automatically deleted 30 days after the last activity on that session.
Most tools on the Site do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. Calculations and conversions are performed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
How We Use Data
We use the data described above for the following purposes:
To improve the Site — access log analysis helps us identify errors, understand which tools are most useful, and prioritise development.
To display relevant advertisements — with your consent, Google AdSense uses tracking data to serve ads that may be relevant to your interests.
To ensure security — server logs help us detect and respond to abusive or malicious traffic.
To analyse usage trends — aggregated, anonymised analytics data helps us understand overall usage patterns.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties under any circumstances.
Third-Party Services
The Site integrates the following third-party services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy:
Google AdSense: Used to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and web beacons to collect data about your browsing behaviour in order to serve personalised ads. For details, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics: Used to measure Site traffic and user behaviour. Data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We encourage you to read the privacy policies of these third-party services to understand how they handle your data.
Data Retention
Server access logs: Retained for 90 days from the date of collection, then permanently deleted.
Bill-Splitting tool data: Retained for 30 days from the date of last access to that session, then automatically deleted.
Google AdSense and Google Analytics data: Governed by Google's own data retention policies. Please refer to the Google Privacy Policy for details.
We do not retain any other personal data beyond the periods stated above.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data.
EU/EEA users (GDPR): You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), the right to restriction of processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
California users (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the Feedback form available on the Site. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit the Site, a consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the page. You can use this banner to accept or decline optional cookies (Analytics and Advertising categories). Essential cookies cannot be declined as they are required for the Site to function.
To withdraw or change your consent at any time, clear the "toolbase_cookie_consent" key from your browser's localStorage. The consent banner will reappear on your next page load, allowing you to make a new selection.
To opt out of Google personalised advertising across all websites, visit Google's Ads Settings at: https://www.google.com/settings/ads
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working correctly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the way we handle your data, please contact us using the Feedback link available on the Site.
We will do our best to respond to all enquiries promptly and to resolve any concerns you may have.
